Some perpetual questions ....

Is there really an immortal soul?

Do you know the difference between the "love" that is of Christianity
and the "love" that is of the world?

Click on the link for a good book on the character of our God which you can download and share amongst your friends.   It's called "Light through Darkness" and is one of the best books on this subject that I have ever read!

In the meantime, try this site.

Here's another great site on the character of God written in a way that's very easy to understand.

In this reply the old-fashioned words of the KJV have been modernised, and in some instances, the man-made punctuation has been altered for greater understanding.  Some of the comments are adapted from books in my library.  No recognition is given because they are not intended as authorities, but are used because they express my understanding clearly.  All the ideas expressed in this article, right or wrong, are my own.

Query:

 Can You Please explain the book of Daniel and Revelation with evidence?

Response:

I replied:

 The immediate answer to your query is NO, I cannot explain those books as they should be presented, but there is One who can, with all the evidence YOU personally need.  All I could do is share with you my explanation of them which may or may not be correct, for my humanity continually gets in the way of the full truth.  Thus I may have difficulty in convincing you of my version.

 However, later, after you have listened to Him, you may be able to share with me what you have seen in God’s word and I would welcome that.  Not for us to argue over who is right, but to see how truth can vary when seen through another’s mind, and yet still be truth.

 The following method can apply to reading the gospels too.

 Let’s see what the teenager himself had to say when he was asked the same question.

     Daniel 2:

26 “The king answered and said to Daniel, whose [Babylonian] name was Belteshazzar [may the god Bel [Baal] protect the king’s life], Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

 27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king has demanded the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers [read: the pastors, evangelists and other religious leaders of today], cannot show to the king [i.e. you]; 28 but there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets, and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar [you – if you are an anxious enquirer as he was] what shall be in the latter days.

 I’m not sure how earnest you are in wanting to know the details of such a large subject, but if you are very serious then I do have some suggestions for you on how to go about it.  However, if your interest is only idle curiosity then I advise that you stop reading now and don’t waste your time – you have to “dig” for treasure and this requires energy and perseverance.

 Why do I say this?  Because these two books are the heart of the Bible, and although I do not claim that they will affect your eternal salvation (for some will be saved without ever having seen a Bible or hearing the story of Jesus, Zechariah 13:6), I do solemnly say that the understanding of these books will affect your place in the heavenly system.  And that they do require concentrated and determined study to appreciate them.

 As Jesus tells us, they (especially Daniel’s writings) have a great deal to do with our behaviour in the last days.

     Mark 13:14

But when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that reads understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains [i.e. to isolated places where the Spirit leads you] . . .

 What I am going to show you will require a great deal of dedication of your life and absolute faith in God’s word, for “all scripture is given by inspiration of God” etc.  Not blind faith, but a reasoning faith as the LORD God says, “Come, let us reason together” – not you, another person and Him, but you and Him alone.  Isaiah 1:18.

 He also said to the young ruler who was a teacher of the law, “What is written in the Law? How read you?”, meaning “What is written in the Bible, and what have YOU read?”  Not, “what have others told you?”  Luke 10:26.

 First,

I suggest that you get a clean Bible, one without any markings of text, or explanations you (or others) may have written in it in the past, and a school exercise book about A4 size, and a pen (this assembly is easily transportable).  The King James Version is the best available in English, but any translation will do (for they are all translations) although the modern ones have many more mistakes and deliberate changes made in the translating than the older ones.

 The good thing about the margin, usually in the middle column if it is available, is that it will lead you to other verses which use the same words. This can be very useful, so long as you remember that they are man-made connections and can be inaccurate.  If you have difficulty with the old English way of writing I can link you with these query books in more modern English, but with no change in the text.  Not the NEW King James but the old KJV.  But one in your own language will be best, for you will be more at home in it.

 Then all you need is time and desire!

You need to sit with your two Friends and read.

(The two friends are the Holy Spirit and an angel such as Gabriel!!)

They are anxious to be with you and guide your mind, and Gabriel is an expert although he is still learning as are all God’s creatures.

 You can expect the Holy Spirit to give you explanations to suit your age and experience, for the understanding of God’s universe (the kingdom of heaven) is a long one, lasting for eternity.

 But right now, we are told:

     Luke 11:

9 And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. 10 For every one that asks [to share with others, for that is the purpose of Christianity on earth] receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone?  Or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?  12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

 13 If you then, being evil [in a sin-affected body], know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

 And we have also been told:

     John 16:

12 I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now [it takes time to accept new ideas]. 13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.

He has also promised that when you ask you will not receive a stone but the gift you are looking for, so keep asking and receiving.  If we do this, we shall all receive the same understanding of God’s word, without having to judge each other’s opinion.

 Jesus said again:

     John 5:

37 And the Father Himself, which has sent Me, has borne witness of Me [through the Spirit and Gabriel (or one of his brethren].  You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape [but you have heard and seen Me in the Old Testament as well as the New] . . .  39 Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.

     Daniel 10:21

[And Gabriel says] But I will show you that which is noted [already] in the scripture of truth [Moses’ writings]: and there is none that holds with me in these things, but Michael your Prince.

 What you do next is most important:

Sit down by yourself somewhere and read (without stopping) the first six chapters (no more) of the book of Daniel.  As you do this don’t worry too much about what it all means, and don’t stop for the chapter breaks.  Read it like the book it is!  It contains the highlights of Daniel’s life over the next 70 years from about 16 years old to 86.  Get familiar with the lad and the man.  Think about him going through all these experiences as if it was you – what would you have done if they had been yours?

 O.K.  Having done that you can then (or at another time if need be), sit down again to read those same six chapters after a prayer for guidance and thankfulness and expect that God the Spirit will sit at your right hand and an angel will be on your left.

 When the angel wants to share his knowledge with you, he will impress you with an emphasis on a word or a phrase – what you do then is ask him for his explanation of them, and expect to get that explanation, if not immediately, then within a very short time as a thought in your mind, for the Spirit will pass them on.  The angel is there to make sure you get the creature view of God’s word – the Spirit gives you the divine version.  Both will be right yet may use different words.

 However, you can easily reject a creature’s explanation, whether from an evangelist or an angel.  So when the Spirit wants your attention, He will “lift” or “light” the word or words before you, to underline them as it were, or connect another scripture with them (in your mind) which will complement the ones you are reading.  His attempt at guidance (you are hard to get to listen or take notice!) is likened to a “prick” or a “goad”, (Acts 9:5; 26:14), not lethal immediately if rejected, but certainly life-threatening.  “And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel [from outsiders]”.  Judges 3:31.

 Now the exercise book comes into use.  As you receive these revelations write them or a short version of them in the book, for we have forgetful memories.

I suggest only two to a page, with book, chapter and verse reference – one at the top and the other about half-way down the page to allow further comments to be added later.  Keep the book handy for another time, for later verses will often modify the first one, but never contradict it.

You could use your computer and copy the text into it, inserting the explanations as you read.  You can also have access to all the writings of EGW on a DVD available from the SDA Bible shop.  There are two different programmes available and the Comprehensive Research Edition seems to be the most usefulBut unless you can fit them on your phone or other device, the book is best.

After you have read the chapters once with your friends, read them again, this time using the added knowledge you have gained and expect even more light from them – you will be doing a lot of adding in your book!

 You are probably a busy person as we all are, but you NEED to read those six chapters every day for at least a week and often ever after till you die!  At the same time carry on with your normal religious programme regarding other parts of the Bible but think over what you have read about Daniel and his kings whenever you can.  If something is not clear, then ask again.

 And don’t give up easily.  Luke 18:1-8.  I wonder about such things as why did Jael give Sisera milk instead of water?  Judges 4:19.  It may be a very small detail (but it is a Spirit inspired one) – maybe it was all she had – or it may lead on to a understanding that is like a light going off in your head!  Sometimes we have to wait for an answer, which teaches us patience!!  It has been said that we can learn more “new light” from the portions of Scripture which we know well because we are comfortable with the words.

 This is a good place to insert EGW’s comments on the six chapters, for at this point [not before] you should read her books to see what she saw in those words.

If your understanding does not harmonise with hers, then recheck yours first!  However, you may be right, because she did have an earthly view of many things having just come out of a time of great ignorance.  Like all the other writers in the Scriptures, she balanced between the two aspects of God’s character – does He destroy (a little) or not at all?  Is He the LORD or Baal?

 But remember this FIRST as you read:

    Matthew 5:

21 [Jesus said,] You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not kill [which is one of the Ten Commandments]; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment. [Yet the Old Testament is full of the records of slaughter by God’s people thinking they were doing God’s will and following His words.  This continued from the exodus and the conquest of Canaan to the just retaliatory oppression of the Romans – a period of about 1,500 years, many generations. (One of Jesus’ disciples was an ex-terrorist!  Luke 6:15.)  And it has happened repeatedly in New Testament times as well, up to today!]

So He changed or added to that:

22 But I say to you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause [I wonder what that could be?] shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, “Raca[you are a fool], shall be in danger of the council [of men on a charge of slander]: but whosoever shall say, “You fool [you are a neglecter of God and therefore are a lost soul], shall be in danger of hell fire [for he is judging his brother].

     [Notice that both the accusations are the same but said with different intentions.]

 There He has just expanded the old way of reading the Bible into the new way, a most important step in religious training.

 He continued:

    Matthew 5:

43 You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy [which is the Old Testament teaching].

 [This is an accurate assessment of what they (God’s followers in the Old Testament) said and did for over 1,000 years,

      but is it what He told them to do?  Jesus didn’t think so, for He said:]

 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you [which is the opposite of what was [is] being taught]; 45 that you may [really] be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust [without favour]

 Here He has shown us a new way to read and practise the Old Testament (the NEW Testament correct way of Christianity)!  Are you willing to turn the words of the Old Testament around to suit this teaching?  For that is what you will often have to do when you read it, for so much of it is tainted with men’s ideas!  They said it and did it, and then blamed God for telling them to do it!!

But did He?  Jesus used the Old Testament so where did He get His ideas from?

Do you remember how easy it is to change Divinities – from the LORD to Baal?

 Here is another adjustment:

     Matthew 5:

31 It has been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement [do it officially in writing so other men can see your reason].

 32 But I say to you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the [single] cause of fornication [i.e. adultery – and even then he doesn’t HAVE to, if he loves her – (this must be read as applying to both sexes)], causes her to commit adultery [and he has therefore become a devil – an adversary of God]: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced [also] commits adultery. [She may leave, but you should not push her out!  See 1 Corinthians 10-15.]

 That time He established the NEW way of treating one another – one which He has been doing to us since the first page of the Bible!

    Isaiah 50:

1 Thus says the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? [I would only give her one when SHE asks for it.]  Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you?

 Behold, for your iniquities have you sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away [i.e. “mother” is the city of Jerusalem, for no human is rejected for another’s sins.  Ezekiel 18:20.]

 2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man?  When I called, was there none to answer?  Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem?  Or have I no power to deliver?

     Matthew 5:

33 Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not forswear yourself [change your mind when you have made a solemn promise to God or man], but shall perform to the LORD [and man] your oaths [consider Joshua 9:18-19.]

 34 But I say to you, Swear not at all [don’t add to your words]; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: 35 nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King [just keep your word]

 He doesn’t need to add anything to His word, for it is certain and therefore impossible to alter (unless we change).  We don’t NEED two or three witnesses to prove God right – one is sufficient – but we do need two or more when it is a matter of justice or agreement between humans!  Do you change your mind to the detriment of others?  Those leaders were true to their word to the Gibeonites who were liars and deceivers!  But then, unlike God, they made them prove their fidelity for ever, which God never does.  Then He turned it into a blessing!

 But how much of the Bible does actually proceed out of the mouth of God?

 Do I need to add any more examples?  Can you not see what God the Son has done?  He came to change the image of the Godhead which we have in our minds from Baal (a boss god) to that of Father (a totally loving God).  If you apply this filter to the words of Daniel and The Revelation as you read them then you will have a greater understanding of the Bible than most men living today!

 What does the Spirit of Prophecy say?

     {Vol 1 Selected Messages 17.3}

I take the Bible just as it is, as the Inspired Word.  I believe its utterances in an entire Bible. [However, we must read them in the light of God’s character, for Jesus had often to change their understanding.  And we need to note who is speaking, for men and devils often speak error.  Their speech is accurately recorded, but not guaranteed to be truthful.]

 [Today] Men arise who think they find something to criticize in God’s Word.  They lay it bare before others as evidence of superior wisdom.  These men are, many of them, smart men, learned men, they have eloquence and talent, the whole lifework (of whom) is to unsettle minds in regard to the inspiration of the Scriptures.  They influence many to see as they do.  And the same work is passed on from one to another, just as Satan designed it should be, until we may see the full meaning of the words of Christ, “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8).  {1SM 17.3}

 Then there is this thought:

     {Vol 1 Selected Messages 21.1-2}

The Bible is written by inspired men, but it is not God’s mode of thought and expression.  It is that of humanity.  God, as a writer, is not represented.  Men will often say such an expression is not like God.  But God has not put Himself in words, in logic, in rhetoric, on trial in the Bible.  The writers of the Bible were God’s penmen, not His pen.  Look at the [number of] different writers [needed to explain the ways of the kingdom of heaven].  {1SM 21.1}

Now read a very misunderstood text in the New Testament:

                         [2 Peter 1:

20 Knowing this first [as the first rule], that no prophecy of the scripture is, [or can truly be], of any private interpretation [i.e. different from God’s, but it can be different from the church’s], 21 for the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.]

         It is not the words of the Bible that are inspired, but the men that were inspired [otherwise we would need to have the original text, and not be able to use translations].

 Inspiration acts not on the man’s words or his expressions but on the man himself, who, under the influence of the Holy Ghost, is imbued [which means impregnated, saturated, inspired] with thoughts.  But the words [also] receive the impress of the individual mind.  The divine mind is diffused [watered down]The divine mind and will is combined with the human mind and will; thus the utterances of the man are the word of God. — Manuscript 24, 1886 (written in Europe in 1886).  {1SM 21.2}

 That’s why we need God the Spirit to explain them to us.

 When you think you have absorbed the underlying messages of those chapters, not just the obvious ones, at the end of the week, then you can move on to the last six chapters of Daniel’s diary.  Don’t worry if you don’t understand it all clearly, there will be plenty of time to learn in the ages to come, AS WELL AS IN THIS LIFE.  But as you converse with other Christians you will find that mostly you already know what they want to share with you, or maybe even more, because you have all had the same Teacher, but the “fruit” depends on the “tree” and therefore has different flavours.  But you can have a great time agreeing with them!  It really depends on how often you read the chapters and how closely you stick to the words, for one misinterpreted word can change your perspective.

 The second set of six chapters in Daniel’s writings are records of visions leading on to details of the history which was to come (details of prophecies of the future), and this is where you must clear your mind of past explanations that you may have heard.

 (Most of them are not completely wrong, but they are certainly very hazy and distorted even in the church.)

 In this second section of the book of Daniel, you will be led step by step through the important happenings of world history right to the Second Coming.

This often includes repetitions, but with added details to round out the events which are to be.  They are NOT God-ordained events but are usually the results of men’s actions.  In them past geographical areas and nations are often used as models to explain the spiritual behaviour of future groups.

Stick to what is written as you repeat the process I have suggested.  You will be amazed at how much Bible teachers and commentators sway from what is actually written!  They add their own ideas without realising it, I think.  Certainly, much of it is different from what the Spirit will lead you to see.

 Your query also asked about The Revelation, the revealed truth, as recorded in the last book of the Bible.  We should treat it in the same way as the pattern for Daniel’s book.  But first we should read the 24th and 25th chapters of Matthew’s gospel where we have Jesus’ words on the future.  This will give the continuation needed to harmonise the two query books.

 The Revelation recorded by John also divides naturally into two parts of eleven chapters each, and these should be read as whole portions just as in the book of Daniel. If you do this, in about a month you will end up with a greater and deeper understanding than you can imagine!

 The first section, chapters 1-11, deals with what men call “the church” and the changes and events that have taken place in it over time.

 The word translated as “church” in the Bible refers to a group of people, a congregation, and NOT to the two-layered man-made system of clergy and laity (leaders and followers) which is its main meaning today, for in God’s family all are equal. Matthew 23:8.

 But the description given of each is the general description of the whole as seen by men, for the “congregation” is always just a part of it.

     {The Acts of the Apostles 11.2}

The church is God’s fortress, His city of refuge, which He holds in a revolted world [and in a lukewarm religious organisation].

           [It holds the “7,000” who have not bowed the knee to a destroying god.]

                         [Numbers 35:

10 Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them,

When you be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan; 11 then you shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which kills any person at unawares [not meaning to – we can do this with WORDS as well as with (S)WORDS]. 12 And they shall be to you cities for refuge from the avenger [Satan]; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment . . . 15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that kills any person unawares may flee thither . . .

 24 Then the congregation [and not just the leaders of that city] shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments: 25 and the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood [if he is innocent of murder], and the congregation shall restore him [the right] to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it to the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil . . . [Jesus is our “City of refuge” and this means forever, or at least till He changes His role in the plan of redemption.]

 29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings [forever].]

 Any betrayal of the church is treachery to Him who has bought mankind with the blood of His only-begotten Son.  From the beginning [of the Bible], faithful souls have constituted the church on earth.  In every age the Lord has had His watchmen, who have borne a faithful testimony to the generation in which they lived.

 These sentinels gave the message of warning; and when they were called to lay off their armor [and die the first death], others took up the work.  God brought these witnesses into covenant relation with Himself, uniting the church on earth with the church in heaven.  He has sent forth His angels to minister to His church, and the gates of hell have not been able to prevail against His people [not ever]

     {Patriarchs and Prophets 516.3}

The cities of refuge appointed for God’s ancient people were a symbol of the refuge provided in Christ.  The same merciful Saviour who appointed those temporal cities of refuge has by the shedding of His own blood provided for the transgressors of God’s law a sure retreat, into which they may flee for safety from the second death.  No power can take out of His hands the souls that go to Him for pardon.  “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us;” that “we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” Romans 8:1, 34; Hebrews 6:18.

     {Vol 4 Bible Commentary 1172.1-2}

The man of sin has instituted a false sabbath, and the professed Christian world has adopted this child of the papacy, refusing to obey God.  Thus Satan leads men and women in a direction opposite to the city of refuge; and by the multitudes who follow him, it is demonstrated that Adam and Eve are not the only ones who have accepted the words of the wily foe.  {4BC 1172.1}

 The enemy of all good has turned the signpost round, so that it points to the path of disobedience as the path of happiness.  He has insulted Jehovah by refusing to obey a “Thus says the Lord.” He has thought to change times and laws (The Review and Herald, April 17, 1900).  {4BC 1172.2}

     {Signs of the Times January 20, 1881, par. 19}

As the man-slayer was in constant peril until within the city of refuge, so is the transgressor of God’s law exposed to divine wrath until he finds a hiding-place in Christ.  As loitering and carelessness might rob the fugitive of his only chance for life, so delays and indifference may prove the ruin of the soul.

 Our adversary, the devil, is on the watch constantly to destroy the souls of men, and unless the sinner is sensible of his danger and earnestly seeks shelter in the eternal Refuge, he will fall a prey to the destroyer.

     {Signs of the Times, January 6, 1888, par. 16}

The conditions and promises are the same in the Old Testament as they are in the New.  The favor of God is promised only to those who obey him.  “If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love,” says the Master.  If we would claim the rich promises, if we would have the pardon of our sins, and eternal life at last, we must yield a royal service to the God of Heaven [not just “trying” but obtaining.  My way is easy, He says!]  In our faithful performance of his requirements consists our prosperity as a church and as individuals.  Not in great talents, not in great possessions, not in grand appearances, but in humble service to our Maker is our strength, wisdom, and understanding.  {ST January 6, 1888, par.16}

 We must not take a feeble, vacillating course; but with unchangeable purpose, place our wills on the side of God’s will [Joshua 24:15; 1 Kings 18:21], become rich in faith, rich in the knowledge of his word, and rich in the power of his Spirit.  If we do those things that are pleasing in the sight of our God, we may hold the keys of the invisible world.  We may unlock Heaven’s storehouses, and draw upon their inestimable treasures.  {ST January 6, 1888, par. 17}

 Apply the same rules of interpretation to the first eleven chapters of The Revelation and you will be surprised at what you are shown as your vision moves from the Jewish trunk of the Tree of Life to the Christian trunk, for it is two joined as one.  (See Ezekiel 37:16-22.)

     {Early Writings 17.1}

Here we saw the tree of life and the throne of God.  Out of the throne came a pure river of water, and on either side of the river was the tree of life.  On one side of the river was a trunk of a tree, and a trunk on the other side of the river, both [looking as though they were made of] of pure, transparent gold.  At first I thought I saw two trees.  I looked again, and saw that they were united at the top in one tree.  So it was the tree of life on either side of the river of life.  Its branches bowed to the place where we stood, and the fruit was glorious; it [also] looked like gold mixed with silver.

 When you move on to the second half of The Revelation, the prophetic half, you will soon recognise old descriptions from the book of Daniel being used in a much more detailed way.  BUT BE SURE TO STICK CLOSELY TO WHAT IS WRITTEN for again the ideas of men, teachers in the religions, differ greatly from what is recorded there.  When you look at the “branches” of the Tree don’t ever forget that they are only parts of the Tree, just as “heads” and “horns” are only parts of “the beast”.

 Here is an example:

    Revelation 13:

1 And I [the Christian] stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a [special] beast rise up out of the sea [two different parts of the earth, two different kinds of humanity], having seven heads [all the governments] and ten horns [all the religions], and upon his horns ten crowns [note the positioning, for at this time they (the ten horns) are ruling all the heads, some more than others, for 10 on 7 requires at least a doubling on some], and upon his heads [plural, all of them] the name of blasphemy [it is the ultimate anti-christ]. [So far, so good?]

 2 And the beast which I saw was like to a leopard [in a body designed for speed], and his feet were as the feet of a bear [designed to crush], and his mouth as the mouth of a lion [designed to make a loud noise]: and the dragon [a fire-breathing snake] gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority [putting it (what?) in complete charge of the world]

 Forget what you have been told and look at the text!  Sure, this “beast” has some of the same features as those in Daniel, but have you noticed that they are not in the same order?  This “beast” is made up of the main characteristics of those ones but is singularly different, yet it has ALL the parts of them. Ask the Spirit why He has reversed the order and be told of a wonderful world of future events which, although spoken of in the Spirit of Prophecy, is not accepted or taught by many leaders in the organisation.

 If you can see the Bible as it should be seen, then you may now go forth and share what you need to do in the area and in the time where you live.

 May the Godhead be able to continue to bless you as you go with Them.

 Conclusion:

The idea of the connection between the books of Daniel and The Revelation is for you to read and SEE the natural flow between man-made events and those of the history which God the Spirit has caused to be written.  Each section of both books commences with a beginning and continues to a logical end.  This will help you tremendously as you study the rest of the Bible.

Who wants to add (or subtract!) from these thoughts? I won't argue as I have stated, but I will publish your Scriptures so that we may review all the words of God on the subject.  Some of the comments on this page are adapted from books in my library. Recognition is not always given because they are not intended as authorities, but are used because they express my understanding clearly.

Query:

“We need to remember that not one person on this planet chose to be born here into this fallen world, whether it be in a palace, a mud hut or a refugee tent.

No one had a choice as to who their parents were, nor the genetic inheritance that they would receive from their ancestors, nor the circumstances of their upbringing, nor the experiences that would mould their character and their choices.

“Therefore, is anyone to be blamed for their choices, or what they become?”
