Some perpetual questions ....

Is there really an immortal soul?

Do you know the difference between the "love" that is of Christianity
and the "love" that is of the world?

Click on the link for a good book on the character of our God which you can download and share amongst your friends.   It's called "Light through Darkness" and is one of the best books on this subject that I have ever read!

In the meantime, try this site.

Here's another great site on the character of God written in a way that's very easy to understand.

In this reply the old-fashioned words of the KJV have been modernised, and in some instances, the man-made punctuation has been altered for greater understanding.  Some of the comments are adapted from books in my library.  No recognition is given because they are not intended as authorities, but are used because they express my understanding clearly.  All the ideas expressed in this article, right or wrong, are my own.

 Query:

Why has this experiment with sin dragged on for 6,000 or more years – about 300 generations.  And does it have anything to do with the record of the seven churches in the Book of The Revelation?

Response:

It is just as well that the LORD is NOT looking for man-made corporate success (as some teachers persist in telling us He is doing today), for He has been rejected more than the seven times in the New Testament record already by those corporates [church groups] and has not told us of another church to come after the present one!  Think of a young man proposing to many young ladies (one at a time) and being turned down each time, and not another suitable one in sight – how would he feel?  One is bad enough – but seven or more!  And yet that (and even more) is what has happened to our loving Saviour and LORD!

What He is looking for is a natural group of followers, not a man-made one.

Let me elaborate by starting at the beginning:

The experiment with sin started in the Garden of Eden when both Adam and Eve accepted the Godhead’s terms and agreed to live the way They wanted their creatures to live even after they had sinned.  So Adam and Eve offered their burnt sacrifices of dedication as a picture of giving their lives into the Godhead’s hands to use and dispose of as They felt was needed, and then taught their children to do the same.

However, only some accepted God’s way while most rejected it but eventually a distinct line between the two groups came into existence.  One set was called “The children – sons and daughters - of God” and the other “The children – sons and daughters - of men”.  But a mixture occurred when more and more of the family of men became converted and the Godhead suggested that they stay amongst the unconverted and demonstrate the power of their Saviour to their companions.  Our own desire as redeemed ones is to congregate together, but they followed His suggestion.

But Lucifer is a cunning creature and he soon encouraged some of those on his side of the rebellion to infiltrate “the family of God” and pretend to be one with them [a tactic still practised today].  They are best described as “tares” in one of the parables Jesus told His people where they mimic the appearance and actions of the “wheat” until just before the harvest when the real fruit must be produced to be seen and ripened and the distinction is plain for all to see.

This is what He said:

    Matthew 13:

24 Another parable put He forth to them, saying,

The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did not you sow good seed in your field? from whence then has it tares?

28 He said to them, An enemy has done this.

The servants said to him, Will you then that we go and gather them up? [Cleanse the church.] 29 But he said, Nay; lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

It soon became impossible for men (and in some case, even angels) to see the differences clearly on either side, and where they could they were told to exercise patience and wait, for to uproot the tares would likely kill some good plants too!

This confusion carried on for some centuries to the time of the Flood and even after till the age of Abraham, about 2,000BC.  By that time the prophecy of the coming of the Son of God to finish the experiment had a firm hold in the minds of the believers and non-believers alike. [Genesis 3:15.]  And so it was that Abram and Sarai desperately wanted to produce a body for that Person. [Consider Hebrews 10:5.]

At the same time they began to draw others into their extended “family by adoption” in an effort to replace their lack of blood children.  By the time that they left Haran their company had expanded to more than 1,000 people and they thought that they were fulfilling the promise of God of becoming a nation.  They had even tried getting a blood child through Hagar.

       {Review and Herald, February 1, 1912 par. 7-8}

In ancient times the patriarch Abraham was chosen by God to be his representative in a distant land.  [Genesis 12.]  But Abraham was also a home missionary, and in the home life he was true to his trust.  God chose Abraham to be a teacher of his word.  He chose him to be the father of a great nation because he saw that Abraham would instruct his children and his household in the principles of the law.  And that which gave power to Abraham's teaching was the influence of his daily life. [But a nation is NOT a church and to make it one is an oxymoron, established by Satan.]

His great household consisted of more than a thousand souls, many of them heads of families, and not a few but newly converted from heathenism.  Such a family [not a church] required a firm hand at the helm.

No weak, vacillating methods would suffice.  Yet Abraham's authority was exercised with such wisdom and tenderness that hearts were won [for adoption into his family, and not put off].   {RH, February 1, 1912 par. 7}

God declared, “I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him [in the right manner], and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment.” [Genesis 18:19.] There would be no betraying of sacred trust on the part of Abraham.  He realized that he was answerable to the Lawgiver, and he was determined to walk in the way of the Lord and to command his children after him.  And he who blesses the habitation of the righteous, blessed Abraham, saying, “In blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; . . . and in thy seed [family] shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” {RH, February 1, 1912 par. 8}

But let’s read what Paul, the great interpreter of the Old Testament, wrote to the people in the church at Rome, noting that to call a man “father” in a religious setting is a No, No.  Jesus told us, “But be not you called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brethren. And call no man your [spiritual] father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be you called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ”.  Matthew 23:8-10.

Yet Paul wrote to the Jews in Rome:

    Romans 4:

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, has found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he has whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt [and he is due wages]. 5 But to him that works not, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, to whom God imputes righteousness without works, 7 saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD will not impute sin. [Psalm 32:1-2.]

9 Comes this blessedness then upon the circumcision only [those in the church], or upon the uncircumcision [those outside the church] also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And [then] he received the sign of circumcision, a seal [evidence] of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed to them also: 12 and the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the [new] world, was not to Abraham, or to his [spiritual] seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Satan, who is a master at deception, soon changed that original position into one where Abraham became known as the founder of the corporate “church”, although God had said he was be the father of a nation, not the visible church and Paul was following that tradition.

    Genesis 12:

1 Now the LORD had said to Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you: 2 and I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: 3 and I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4 So [with that promise ringing in his ears] Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken to him; and Lot went with him [so Abram did not leave his kindred completely]: and Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran [and Sarai was 65]. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered [for they were mightily blessed by God], and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

And before long the people “they had gotten” had the attitude described so many centuries later in the gospel of Luke where he recorded that Jesus told them, “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say to you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham”. Luke 3:8.

Jesus spoke even more plainly to them at another time when He said:

    John 8:

37 I know that you are Abraham's seed [physical descendants]; but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 38 I speak that which I have seen with My Father: and you do that which you have seen with your father.

39 They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our [spiritual] father.  Jesus says to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. 41 You do the deeds of your father. [Not by words alone, but by actions is the truth demonstrated.]

Then said they to Him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God [for now they realised what He meant]. 42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of Myself, but He sent Me [gave Me His blessing when I came]. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? even because you cannot hear My word [having shut your ears]. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father [originator] of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, you believe Me not.

To keep the record straight let us compare the following words of God the Saviour to see that Abraham did not intend to become the “father of the church” but that it was done to him after his death.

One day Jesus said to a group of Pharisees:

    John 8:

51 Verily, verily, I say to you, If a man keep My saying, he shall never see death. 52 Then said the Jews to Him, Now we know that You have a devil.  Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, If a man keep My saying, he shall never taste of death [that’s impossible (or is it?)]. 53 Are You greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom make You Yourself?

54 Jesus answered, If I honour Myself, My honour is nothing: it is My Father that honours Me; of whom you say, that He is your God: 55 yet you have not known Him [you know OF Him but do not know what He is like]; but I know Him: and if I should say, I know Him not, I shall be a liar like to you: but I know Him, and keep His saying [His commandments].

56 Your father Abraham [as you call him] rejoiced to see My day: and he saw it [physically and spiritually], and was glad

How?  By faith, as well as in fact.

    Hebrews 11:   [By faith]

8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles [tents] with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 for he looked for a city  [the one in heaven that Satan has so often unsuccessfully copied] which has [the] foundations [of righteousness by faith], whose builder and maker is God . . .

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect [or complete]

    Genesis 18:   [By fact]

1 And the LORD appeared to him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 and he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 and said, My LORD, if now I have found favour in your sight, pass not away,

I pray you, from your servant: 4 let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 and I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort you your hearts; after that you shall pass on: for therefore are you come to your servant.

And they said, So do, as you have said. . . .

16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 1 seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?  . . .

22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Will You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: will You also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from You to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from You:

Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

As we all know very well, the church that Moses led lasted about 1,000 years (with many affairs on the side, although the first generation were quick to reject Him and died in the wilderness) and then later she separated from her Intended and was whisked off to Babylon about 586BC

Note:

Marriage is spoken of in two ways in the Bible – first when we become Christians and is of a personal nature; second when we meet Him as a group after the resurrection.   In Hebrew eyes both marriages begin with an engagement period, and that thought was continued in to the New Testament. 2 Corinthians 11:2.

I also recommend that you read all of Ezekiel chapter 16 very prayerfully.

    Hebrews 3:

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke [God’s protection]: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was He grieved forty years?  Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? [Joshua 5:4.] 18 And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in [or be justified] because of [their] unbelief.

When at last God was able to persuade a pitiful few to return and take up abode with Him (as Hosea did with his wife), they lasted nearly 500 years before totally breaking off the engagement again and running off with the Romans.  “But they cried out, Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him.  Pilate says to them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.  John 19:15.

During the time of the second engagement, the ark of the covenant (the engagement ring) was conspicuously missing and still is!  See

                     https://ancient-sda.com/ancient/ark_of_the_covenant.pdf

And so a new(?) era began.

Using seven literal churches in what is now Turkey the LORD gives us a picture of His love life over the years since then!  All the dates are my own – based on secular history but are only approximate.

    Revelation 2:     #1

1 To the angel [the spiritual leader] of the church of Ephesus write [for it had become the picture of the new church, the “bride”]; These things says He that holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks [representing the seven branched Christian church];

2 I know your works, and your labour, and your patience, and how you can not bear them which are evil: and you have tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and have found them liars: 3 and have borne, and have patience, and for My name's sake have laboured, and have not fainted. [They started off well.]

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against you, because you have left your first love. [They lasted from 31AD to about 100AD!  Barely three generations.]

5 Remember therefore from whence you are fallen, and repent, and do the first works [renew your first love]; or else I will come to you quickly, and will [have to] remove your candlestick [your light in the world] out of his place, except you repent [I will have to grant you your separation for I can’t hold you against your will.]

6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitanes [who make a distinction between clergy and laity], which I also hate [and that is good]. [“But be not you called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brethren. And call no man your [spiritual] father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be you called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ”.  Matthew 23:8-10.]

7 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes [himself] will I give to eat of the Tree of Life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

The first engagement lasted 1,000 years; the second 500; but this one barely 70!  (And yet some among us think that we are better than the people of old!!)

Let’s continue and see how the Suitor got on.

#2

8 And to the angel of the church in Smyrna [from 100AD to about 313AD] write; These things says the First and the Last, which was dead, and is alive; 9 I know your works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but you are rich [in the faith (of your first love)]) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews [or Christians], and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

10 Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried; and you shall have tribulation ten days [of years – from 303AD - 313AD]: be you faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

11 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; He that overcomes [himself and his fancies] shall not be hurt of the second death.

This is better – over 200 years, but still short-lived in God’s sight and not enough of them to give the commitment the Godhead wants for the universe.

#3

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos [313AD – 538AD another 200 years] write; These things says He which has the sharp sword with two edges. 13 I know your works and where you dwell, even where Satan's seat is [the priests from fallen Babylon had moved there]: and you hold fast My name [character], and have not denied My faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

14 But [sadly] I have a few things against you, because you have there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam [this is religion for money - it had become normal in the church], who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication [have many affairs]. 15 So have you also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes [it was increasing too], which thing I hate.

16 Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth [with words only, but your light will go out]. 17 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes [himself] will I give to eat of the hidden manna [in the Scriptures], and will give him a white stone [representing judgment in his favour], and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives it [for it describes his personal experiences].

This next engaged “bride” struggled through for nearly 1,000 years even though the LORD had asked His people to leave Europe and go into all the world.

“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days [1260 years – 538-1798].  Revelation 12:6.  That is where they were all supposed to be, but most stayed in Europe, the seat of Satan’s church.

So He tried again:

          #4

18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira [538-1517] write; These things says the Son of God, who has His eyes like to a flame of fire, and His feet are like fine brass; 19 I know your works, and charity, and service, and faith, and your patience, and your works; and the last [works] to be more than the first [for it heralded the rise of Protestantism].

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you suffer [allow] that woman Jezebel [aka the Papacy], which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication [have many flings with other gods], and to eat things sacrificed to idols [because you consider her to be a good Christian system!!]

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication [for I love all men – saint or sinner]; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed [her choice of furniture], and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death [Revelation 13:3]; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the reins and hearts: and I will give to every one of you according to your works [as you desire]

24 But to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak;

I will put upon you none other burden [but the end-times will be delayed].

25 But that which you have already hold fast till I come.

26 And he that overcomes [himself], and keeps My works to the end [under My righteousness], to him will I give power over the nations: 27 and he shall rule them with a rod of iron [and mercy, as I have]; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of My Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star [which is Myself].

29 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Although most of historians’ attention has been focussed on what they have assumed was the church in Europe, the LORD clearly told His people to get out and concentrate on Him from different countries.  Sadly, most of them did not leave, and the love of His life did her own thing again and her light went out as He was rejected again. There came a reaction in “a few” and they struggled to clearly put on the map of religion the place of the “woman Jezebel” “which calls herself a prophetess” or even worse, God’s “only beloved on earth”.

But then came the showy would-be bride.

Chapter 3

#5

1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis [1517-1833] write; These things says He that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know your works, that you have a name [among men] that you live [in a reformation], and [but in My sight] are dead [and dying].

[For a historian’s complex account, click

https://ancient-sda.com/daubigne/index.html]

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.

If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief [even though it is plainly prophesied], and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you [which was October 22, 1844].

4 You have a few names even in Sardis [they were not all bad] which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white: for they are worthy. 5 He that overcomes [himself], the same shall be clothed in white raiment [My righteousness]; and I will not blot out his name out of the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels [on the Day of Atonement]. 6 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

A glimmer of hope came into His life when William Miller and a few others found an open door and considered it for a while.

Some entered – most did not.

#6

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia [1833-1852] write; These things says He that is holy, He that is true, He that has the key of David, He that opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens; 8 I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door [to the second apartment], and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name [just My advice]

9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews [or Christians], and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

10 Because you have kept the word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world [in the future], to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come [relatively] quickly [now]: hold that fast which you have, that no man take [or persuade you to give up] your crown. 12 Him that overcomes [himself] will I make a pillar [a strong one] in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name [character] of My God, and the name [character] of the city of My God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God: and I will write upon him My new name [a new description of His character].

13 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches [and learn the three new names].

But that last desperate effort did not last long and soon the “bride” was in a worse condition than she had ever been, and the would-be Bridegroom was becoming anxious.  Would His wedding have to be a secret, quiet, occasion?  No.  He wants to show off His bride to the entire universe – He NEEDS a large group of living saints to convince them that sin will not rear its ugly head again.

          #7

14 And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans [1852-present-day] write; These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning [Beginner] of the creation of God; 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold [indifferent] or hot [enthusiastic]. 16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot [just hard to move], I will spue you out of My mouth [you make Me feel sick]. 17 Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not [refuse to believe] that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked [with no covering of righteousness].

18 I counsel [plead with] you to buy of Me gold tried in the fire [tested faith], that you may be rich; and white raiment [My righteousness], that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eyesalve [the guidance of the Holy Spirit], that you may see [the truth for today].

19 As many as I love [even in your condition], I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart], and knock: if any man [or woman] hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me [we will have a wedding supper together]

21 To him that overcomes [himself enough to humble himself] will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame [for I am meek and lowly], and am set down with My Father in His throne.

22 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Something we need always to remember – He is not fickle as a human might be and allowing His eye to roam over many different brides.  They all one in reality for they represent humanity in different ages, but because He is perpetually young and unsatisfied, He is always searching.  And one day He will have her, but she will be made up of all the individual souls He has been able to attract since the beginning of history.  What He needs first is the public ceremony of a relatively few!

    Revelation 19:

5 And a Voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all you His servants, and you that fear [respect] Him, both small and great.

6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the LORD God omnipotent reigns. 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself ready. [We can also see her.]

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he [my angel guide] said to me, Write, Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb

And he said to me, These are the true sayings of God

That’s why it is dragging on!  He appears to have run out of eligible brides, but He promises a “time of trouble” in which “she” will appear.

Conclusion:

“The [visible] church” is not as important as its supporters like to make out and if you have read the chapter in Ezekiel you will know that God never really wanted one, but once given, He has used it to help in His messages to mankind.

Who wants to add (or subtract!) from these thoughts? I won't argue as I have stated, but I will publish your Scriptures so that we may review all the words of God on the subject.  Some of the comments on this page are adapted from books in my library. Recognition is not always given because they are not intended as authorities, but are used because they express my understanding clearly.

Query:

Someone I met years ago sent me the below link about Christ being begotten which also would segway [a segue (segueway) is a smooth transition] into the idea of the Holy Spirit somehow being part of the 3-part Godhead.  Was the HS also at some time "begotten"?  Don't recall much on that subject........... how important
is it really?  Many seem be confused on both "subjects" - Christ & HS....... thanks for replying!.
