The Revelation

from Jesus Christ

Chapter Fourteen

A Special Group

Chapter 14

The end result of the gospel

1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on mount Sion, and with Him a hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads. Note 1

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder. And I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3 and they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts [the living creatures], and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth [not the grave]. Note 2

4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins [or pure]. These are they which follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

5 And in their mouth was found no guile [or trickery]: for they are without fault before the throne of God. Note 3

The first angel's message

6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven,Angel with scrollhaving the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred [family], and tongue [culture], and people [personality],

[Return to Notes for The Revelation chapter 18]

7 saying with a loud voice,

Fear [or respect] God, and give glory to Him;

for the hour of His judgment is come:

and worship Him that made heaven, and earth,

and the sea, and the fountains of waters [the Creator]. Note 4

The second message

8 And there followed another angel [which joined the first], saying,Angel with bottle and glass

Babylon is falleThe 1st angeln, is fallen, that great city,

because she made all nations drink of the wine

of the wrath of her fornication. Note 5

The third message

9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, An angel with a full cup

If any man worship the beast andThe 1st angel his image,

and receive his mark in his forehead,

or in his hand, Note 6The 2nd angel

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture [of mercy] into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.

11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. Note 7

12 Here is the patience of the saints:

here are they that keep the commandments of God,

and [have] the faith of Jesus. Note 8

[This angel's message is borrowed from Chapter 18]

The 2nd angelThe 1st angel

The 4th angel with a vulture in a cage

1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,

Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen,

and is become the habitation of devils,

and the hold of every foul spirit,

and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

3 For all nations [the people] have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth [politicians] have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth [the business people] are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. Note 9

A special blessing

13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me,

Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth [from this time onwards]:

Yes, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours;

and their works do follow them. Note 10

The return of Jesus

Christ on a cloud with a sickle

14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like the Son of man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. Note 11

The fifth message

15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud,An angel calling to Jesus

Thrust in Your sickle, and reap:

for the time is come for You to reap;

for the [first] harvest of the earth is ripe.

16 And He that sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. Note 12

The sixth messageAn angel with a sickle

17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

Note 13

The seventh message

An angel with power over fire18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire;

and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle [the sixth angel], saying,

Thrust in your sharp sickle,

and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth [in the second harvest];

for her grapes are fully ripe. Note 14

19 And [then] the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without [or in front of] the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even to the horse bridles, by the space of one thousand and six hundred furlongs.
