Thought #016

Signs of the end of the world

Below is a good quote for those who think the end is near because of events on the world scene.

“Boys and girls are dressing alike.  They love luxury, have bad manners, show contempt for authority, show disrespect for their elders and prefer to chatter rather than exercise.  Children are now tyrants and not the servants of their households.  They no longer show respect when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents, chatter over the top of their elders, gobble their food at the table, cross their legs and tyrannise their teachers.”

Sound familiar?

Well it might interest you to know that these words were written by none other than Socrates who lived from 467 to 400 BC.  And BC doesn’t stand for “Before Computers”!

Meaning:  This is a Chinese proverb that is a metaphorical statement, basically meaning, "Bad people are bad no matter where you find them, because human nature never changes."

So, those events in the world which are worrying you, or which seem to point to the soon coming of Jesus, are just that – seem to, but don’t!!  They are repeated on circular pattern in history, and will be until a certain response occurs in the people of God.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, “See, this is new?”  It has been already of old time, which was before.

Look for your signs in the Bible and you will have a better authority.
